Reviews
The highly satisfactory sequel to Wind From a Foreign Sky. Readers will quickly and pleasurably find plenty of action, complex but plausible motivation and characterization, and well-done world building in the second Tielmaran Chronicle.
--Booklist
Reimann provides a very different set of magically linked twins, not to mention the paradoxically idealistic young assassin, as a highly entertaining contrast. The whole is a rousing, and very readable, fantasy adventure that largely stands alone, while leaving plenty of room for more, much anticipated, adventures.
--LOCUS
The ever-more-tangled plot moves swiftly along. . . . There's clearly plenty of story remaining to be told in the richly detailed world Reimann has created.

Katya Reimann, a finalist for the John W. Campbell Award for best new writer, returns to the enthralling, vivid world of Wind from a Foreign Sky, once again sweeping us along with a deft tale of powerful magic, breathtaking adventure, and deep political intrigue.
Gaultry Blas is a young woman with a knowledge of woods magic and a special bond to the glamour magic of the twin goddesses who bless the Principality of Tielmark. She has saved her land from subversion by the scheming agents of the Bissanty Empire, from which Tielmark has won a tenuous independence.
As she, her twin sister Mervion, and the Tielmaran court convene to celebrate the most sacred of Tielmark's ceremonies--the renewal of the blood-bond between Prince Benet, the twin goddesses, and the land--the short lived peace is shattered by a horrifying betrayal crafted by the dark magic of Bissanty assassins.
The assassins have already killed members of the Common Brood--families whose blood has a prophetic tie to the Prince's throne. But these murders are a mere shadow of what is to come when Gaultry captures the young assassin, Tullier Sha Muira. Magically subduing Tullier, Gaultry bonds him with her glamour soul to prevent him from killing himself before he can reveal his Bissanty masters' secrets.
When Martin Stalker, the dispossessed noble who once saved Gaultry's life, is lured away by the threat of violence to his estranged wife, it's up to Gaultry, with the help of the furious assassin Tullier in her precarious hold, to head deep into the heartlands of the bitter earth of Bissanty, seeking to save him, their loved ones, and her country.
